Description
ROLE DESCRIPTION
* We are seeking an experienced Structural Engineer specializing in Steel Structures to join our engineering consultancy team. The candidate will be responsible for the analysis, design, detailing, checking and coordination of steel structures for building and industrial projects.
* The ideal candidate should have strong practical experience in structural steel design, including primary and secondary framing, connections, stability, wind and seismic analysis, and preparation/review of fabrication and erection drawings.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
* Perform structural analysis and design of steel buildings and structures.
* Design steel beams, columns, bracing systems, portal frames, trusses and secondary steel members.
* Design and check bolted and welded connections, base plates, anchor bolts and other structural connections.
* Carry out wind, seismic, gravity and other applicable load analyses.
* Develop structural design calculations, specifications and design reports.
* Prepare and review steel structural drawings, fabrication drawings and erection drawings.
* Coordinate structural steel design with architectural, RCC, MEP and other engineering disciplines.
* Review shop/fabrication drawings and ensure compliance with approved structural designs.
* Perform structural analysis and design using appropriate engineering software.
* Review existing designs, identify design deficiencies and recommend technically sound solutions.
* Ensure designs comply with applicable international and local design codes and standards.
* Provide technical support during fabrication, erection and site execution where required.
* Review the work of junior engineers and provide technical guidance.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
* B. Sc. /B. E. Civil Engineering from a recognized institution.
* M. Sc. /M. E. in Structural Engineering preferred and strongly desirable.
* 6–8 years of relevant professional experience, with significant hands-on experience in steel structural design.
* Proven experience in the design of steel buildings, industrial structures, sheds, portal frames, trusses and miscellaneous steel structures.
* Strong knowledge of steel member design, structural stability and connection design.
* Experience with fabrication and erection drawings will be highly preferred.

* IDEA StatiCa or equivalent connection-design software
CODES & STANDARDS
Good working knowledge of applicable structural design standards, preferably including:
* AISC 360 – Specification for Structural Steel Buildings
* AISC 341 – Seismic Provisions
* ASCE 7 – Minimum Design Loads
* Relevant Eurocodes / British Standards
* Applicable local building codes and standards
PREFERRED CANDIDATE PROFILE
The ideal candidate will be a Steel Structural Design Engineer, rather than a general site or RCC engineer, with the ability to independently take a steel structure from analysis and design through structural drawings, connection design, fabrication coordination and technical review.
