Description
This is not an entry-level position. Do not apply if your experience is primarily web applications, REST APIs, or cloud-native microservices. This role operates at the operating system layer.
What you will build:
A local process supervisor that intercepts, buffers, evaluates, and forwards structured messages between parent and child processes using stdin/stdout pipes and filesystem-based IPC — no TCP, no HTTP. The system must run cross-platform on Linux, macOS, and Windows, manage child process lifecycles, prevent pipe buffer deadlocks under high-throughput payloads, and enforce deterministic policy decisions before allowing intercepted operations to proceed.
Required skills:
Go or Rust systems programming at production level. Inter-process communication using Unix Domain Sockets, Named Pipes, and stdio stream piping. Building proxy or middleware processes that sit between two communicating processes and intercept, hold, inspect, and relay structured messages without either side knowing. Managing OS pipe buffers under load — you must understand what happens when a 64KB pipe fills up while the reader is blocked, and how to prevent it. Spawning, supervising, and cleanly terminating child process trees using process groups on Linux/macOS and Job Objects on Windows. Hooking into OS-level process monitoring or interception using at least one of: eBPF, macOS Endpoint Security framework, Windows ETW, or filesystem minifilter drivers. Applying OS-native process sandboxing: seccomp-bpf, macOS Seatbelt, or Windows Mandatory Integrity Control. Working with embedded databases under single-writer constraints with high-frequency synchronous writes. Implementing cryptographic operations in application code: HMAC hash chains, Ed25519 signature verification, symmetric encryption.
How we filter:
Your application must include links or references to at least two past projects where you personally built software that operates at the OS or IPC layer. For each project, state in two to three sentences what the system did, what your specific contribution was, and what OS-level primitives you used. Examples of qualifying work include: a process supervisor or orchestrator that manages child process lifecycles, a proxy or shim that intercepts IPC traffic between two processes, a tool that uses eBPF or ETW or minifilters for process monitoring or interception, a sandboxing or isolation tool that restricts process capabilities at the OS level, a high-throughput pipeline that manages pipe buffers or stdio streams between processes. If your past work is exclusively web servers, REST APIs, Kubernetes operators, or cloud-native services, this is not the right role. Those are valid skills but they are not what this position requires.
