Position Overview
The Pharmacy Manager is responsible for the overall management and smooth operation of the pharmacy, ensuring safe and efficient dispensing of medicines, excellent customer service, regulatory compliance, inventory control, and effective staff management.
Key Responsibilities
1. Pharmacy Operations
Manage the day-to-day operations of the pharmacy.
Ensure prescriptions are processed, dispensed, labeled, and supplied accurately.
Maintain proper pharmacy procedures and workflow.
Ensure medicines are stored under appropriate conditions.
Maintain cleanliness, organization, and professional standards within the pharmacy.
2. Prescription & Patient Care
Review prescriptions for accuracy, appropriate dosage, and potential medication-related issues.
Provide professional guidance to customers regarding medicines, dosage, precautions, and usage.
Handle customer queries and complaints professionally.
Maintain confidentiality of patient and prescription information.
3. Inventory Management
Monitor medicine and healthcare-product stock levels.
Ensure timely purchasing and replenishment of medicines.
Monitor expiry dates, damaged stock, and near-expiry products.
Maintain proper records of purchases, sales, returns, and controlled medicines.
Minimize stock shortages, wastage, and inventory discrepancies.
4. Staff Management
Supervise pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, sales staff, and support staff.
Prepare and manage staff schedules and duties.
Train employees on pharmacy procedures, customer service, and workplace standards.
Monitor staff performance and maintain discipline.
Ensure adequate staffing during operating hours.
5. Compliance & Documentation
Ensure pharmacy operations comply with applicable pharmacy laws, regulations, and licensing requirements.
Maintain accurate prescription, inventory, purchase, and sales records.
Ensure proper handling and documentation of controlled/restricted medicines where applicable.
Coordinate with relevant regulatory authorities when required.
6. Sales & Business Management
Monitor daily pharmacy sales and overall performance.
Help achieve monthly sales and revenue targets.
Identify opportunities to improve product sales and customer retention.
Monitor pricing, margins, and promotional activities.
Coordinate with management regarding business performance and operational requirements.
7. Customer Service
Maintain a professional and welcoming environment for customers.
Resolve customer complaints and concerns promptly.
Build strong relationships with regular customers.
Ensure customers receive accurate and professional service.
Qualifications
Pharm-D / B. Pharm or relevant pharmacy qualification.
Valid pharmacist registration/license as required by local regulations.
Previous experience in a retail/community pharmacy is preferred.
Experience in pharmacy operations and staff management is an advantage.
