Job Description:
As a Medical Coder at our organization, you will play a crucial role in accurately coding healthcare claims to enable appropriate reimbursement. This position is ideal for nurses and Medical Degree Students who are looking to transition into a coding role.
Responsibilities:
Review patient information for pre-existing conditions, ensuring accurate code assignment.
Extract medical information from patient records and clinical documentation.
Translate medical procedures into codes that can be translated by payers, other medical coders, and various medical facilities.
Communicate with patient care staff regarding patient data.
Stay current with and understand relevant laws and regulations regarding medical coding, reporting, and billing.
Train and educate staff on coding issues and practices.
Qualifications:
Nursing degree or equivalent experience in a clinical nursing role.
Certification in medical coding (CPC, CCS, RHIT, RHIA, or equivalent) is preferred.
Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
Proficiency with database software and electronic health records (EHR).
Excellent organizational and multitasking skills.
Attention to detail and accuracy in coding and documentation.
