# Job Description ## Position: Assistant Chef ## Restaurant: Jugni Biryani ### Job Summary The Assistant Chef is responsible for assisting the Head Chef in preparing high-quality biryani, pulao, and other menu items while ensuring food quality, hygiene, and efficient kitchen operations. The Assistant Chef supervises food preparation activities and helps maintain consistency in taste and presentation. ### Key Duties and Responsibilities #### Food Preparation * Assist the Head Chef in preparing biryani, pulao, and other menu items. * Prepare ingredients such as rice, meat, vegetables, and spices according to recipes. * Ensure proper marination, cooking, and seasoning of food. * Maintain consistency in taste, portion size, and presentation. #### Kitchen Operations * Coordinate with cooks and helpers to ensure smooth kitchen operations. * Ensure customer orders are prepared accurately and on time. * Monitor cooking processes and maintain quality standards. * Assist during busy hours to ensure efficient service. #### Food Quality Control * Check the quality and freshness of ingredients before use. * Ensure all dishes meet the restaurant's quality standards. * Report any issues related to food quality or ingredients to the Head Chef. #### Hygiene and Food Safety * Maintain cleanliness of kitchen workstations and equipment. * Follow food safety and sanitation procedures. * Ensure proper storage and handling of food items. * Use personal protective equipment and maintain personal hygiene. #### Inventory Management * Monitor stock levels of ingredients and kitchen supplies. * Assist in stock counting and inventory control. * Minimize food wastage and avoid overproduction. * Inform the Head Chef or Store Keeper about low stock items. #### Equipment Maintenance * Operate kitchen equipment safely and properly. * Ensure equipment is cleaned after use. * Report damaged or malfunctioning equipment immediately. #### Teamwork and Supervision * Guide and support cooks and kitchen helpers. * Train new kitchen staff when required. * Maintain good communication with all restaurant departments. * Follow instructions from the Head Chef and management. ### Required Skills and Qualifications * Experience in preparing biryani, pulao, and Pakistani cuisine. * Knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards. * Ability to work under pressure and during busy hours. * Good communication and teamwork skills. * Strong attention to detail and quality control. ### Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) * Consistent food quality and taste. * Timely preparation of orders. * Reduced food wastage. * Kitchen cleanliness and hygiene compliance. * Efficient teamwork and productivity. ### Reporting To Head Chef ### Employment Type Full-Time
